I have been a nurse for over 31 years and an ambulatory care
nurse for 29 of those years. After 17 years in the University of
Chicago pediatric trauma center I transitioned to supervision of
pediatric and adult medicine in a managed care organizations
ambulatory care center. For the past 14 years I have been employed at Humana, Inc. and
held various administrative positions including Director of Patient
Care Services for 14 ambulatory care centers. I classify my current
position as an ambulatory care role. I am currently the Clinical
Process Manager for delegation compliance, responsible for
oversight of groups delegated to perform Utilization and Quality
Management and member rights & responsibilities for both
medical management and behavioral health. I am responsible for
assuring delegated groups and national Humana markets are compliant
with regulatory and accrediting body standards. This position
allows me the opportunity to influence quality and utilization
programs for ambulatory care providers and facilities. Overall, my career in ambulatory care has provided a variety of
leadership and professional growth opportunities. As health care
increasingly moves into the ambulatory care arena I can vision
opportunities continuing to arise and expand. I am currently a
doctoral candidate at Loyola University Chicago with a focus on
nursing leadership and research in ambulatory care nursing
outcomes.
