In high school, I also came in contact with medical missionaries who worked in far away lands with people who were challenged in many ways. These two experiences in my life helped me realize my calling to be a nurse.

I have been a pediatric emergency room nurse throughout my career, though not always in a hospital. Due to several unique opportunities, I have been able to travel overseas for medical disaster relief, including Caribbean hurricanes, earthquakes in the Middle East and the tsunami that devastated Southeast Asia.
