Nursing is a very diverse profession with many opportunities to care for people. My love is cardiology, critical care, and internal medicine. Since graduating in 1984, I have worked at the bedside in critical care, open heart surgery, and cardiology. As a nurse practitioner, I have worked alongside a pioneer in interventional cardiology, in private cardiology and internal medicine practices, and taught at the undergraduate and graduate level. Soon, I will be completing my DNP in Nursing Education. As a nurse practitioner in the rural setting, I enjoy reaching out to families, providing people with access to healthcare, and the challenge of medically managing patient's often complex co-morbid conditions. It also affords me the opportunity to have students in the clinic and teach them about the challenges of rural health care. I am very proud of the opportunities I have been afforded, the wonderful people I have met along the way, and the life nursing has provided my family and I.
