Clinical Nurse Leader

back to specialties list

Members of this emerging specialty are Registered Nurses (RNs) with a Masters in the Science of Nursing (MSN). The role was developed to prevent errors in the care of patients in the clinical setting. CNLs oversee the care of a distinct group of patients and make sure those patients are receiving the most complete and technologically current care available. The Veteran's Health Administration is the largest employer of CNLs, having enthusiastically adopted the newer specialty for all of its VA Hospitals and Medical Centers.
