Abstract:
Approximately 50 percent of businesses' profits go toward employee healthcare costs like chronic pulmonary disease, cardiovascular disease and cancer versus only seven percent of profits thirty years ago, according to the United States Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Furthermore, OSHA estimates that U.S. businesses spend about $170 billion a year on costs associated with work-related injuries and illnesses alone.
